Sometimes, the line between your brows communicates tension before you have said a word.
Frown lines can make you appear worried, tired, or serious even when you feel completely at ease. Treating them is not about removing character from your face. It is about allowing your expression to feel more aligned with how you actually feel.
What is Frown Lines treatment?
Frown lines—often called the “11 lines”—develop between the eyebrows through repeated contraction of the corrugator and procerus muscles when concentrating, squinting, or frowning.
Dr. Leigh carefully places botulinum toxin type A into selected muscles to temporarily reduce excessive contraction. As the movement softens, the area between the brows may appear smoother and less tense.
Frown Lines treatment may be suitable if you:
- Notice vertical lines between your eyebrows when frowning or concentrating
- Feel that your resting expression appears tense, worried, or overly serious
- Want to soften the “11 lines” without losing natural expression
- Prefer a temporary, non-surgical treatment
- Understand that lines visible at rest may soften without disappearing completely
- Are comfortable returning for maintenance when appropriate
When will I see the result?
Reduced muscle activity may begin within several days, but the treatment should be allowed approximately two weeks to settle.
The area between the brows may gradually look smoother and more relaxed while some natural movement remains. Results vary according to muscle strength, line depth, skin quality, and individual response.
Will my face look frozen?
The goal is to soften excessive frowning—not prevent you from showing emotion.
Dr. Leigh considers how your frown muscles interact with the forehead and eyebrows before determining the treatment pattern. A conservative plan can soften the lines while preserving an expression that still feels natural.
The amount of movement retained depends on your anatomy, muscle strength, and desired result.
Why does Dr. Leigh’s skill matter?
Botulinum toxin is only one part of the result. The difference between a relaxed expression and an upper face that looks frozen, heavy, or unbalanced lies in the doctor’s understanding of facial anatomy, muscle relationships, placement, and restraint.
The muscles between the eyebrows pull the brows inward and downward, while the forehead muscle lifts them. Treating one area without understanding this balance can unintentionally alter the shape or position of the eyebrows.
The most natural result depends just as much on knowing what to preserve as it does on knowing where to inject.
Will it improve a line that is already visible at rest?
It may gradually soften the line by reducing repeated folding, but a deeply established crease may not disappear completely with botulinum toxin alone.
Static frown lines are also affected by skin quality, collagen loss, sun exposure, and the length of time the crease has been present. Dr. Leigh will explain whether another skin treatment may be helpful once the muscle activity has settled.
How long does the result last?
Results are temporary and commonly soften over approximately three to four months, although duration differs between patients and botulinum toxin products.
Maintenance should be based on reassessment rather than an automatic schedule. Dr. Leigh will consider the return of muscle movement, and your previous response.
Is there downtime?
Most patients can return to ordinary activities after treatment. Temporary redness, tenderness, small raised bumps, headache, or bruising may occur around the injection points.
The most beautiful Frown Lines result
The most beautiful result does not remove the intensity or intelligence from your expression. It simply allows your face to look as calm and composed as you feel.
