What is Fractional RF Microneedling?
Fractional RF Microneedling combines two controlled forms of stimulation: microneedles enter the skin at selected depths, while radiofrequency energy creates precise areas of heat within the tissue.
This controlled injury activates the skin’s healing response and may encourage gradual collagen and elastin remodeling. Unlike ordinary microneedling, the treatment also delivers heat below the surface, allowing Dr. Leigh to customize both needle depth and energy according to the concern and treatment area.
Fractional RF Microneedling does not inject collagen into the skin, erase every pore, or produce the lifting power of surgery.

When will I see results?
Redness and mild swelling can temporarily make the skin look fuller immediately after treatment, but this is not the final result.
Early improvements in texture may become noticeable over the following weeks. Collagen remodeling develops gradually and may continue for several months after a treatment series.
Results vary according to age, skin condition, scar type, treatment settings, healing response, sun exposure, and adherence to aftercare.
How many sessions will I need?
Many patients require a series rather than a single treatment, particularly when treating acne scars or more established texture concerns.
Dr. Leigh will recommend the number and spacing of sessions after assessing your skin. More energy and more frequent treatments do not automatically create better results—the skin needs adequate time to heal and remodel between procedures.
Is there downtime?
Temporary redness, warmth, swelling, sensitivity, pinpoint bleeding, dryness, roughness, or fine crusting may occur. These effects commonly settle over several days, although more intensive treatments may require a longer recovery period.

Why does Dr. Leigh’s technique matter?
Fractional RF Microneedling is not simply a facial performed with a machine. It is a medical procedure that creates both mechanical injury and heat beneath the skin.
Different areas of the face have different skin thicknesses, fat compartments, vessels, and underlying structures. Settings that may be appropriate for an acne scar on the cheek may be unnecessarily aggressive around the temples, forehead, or other thinner areas.
Dr. Leigh determines where treatment should be stronger, where it should be conservative, and where RF microneedling should not be performed at all.
This judgment matters because excessive depth or energy can lead to burns, prolonged inflammation, pigmentation changes, scarring, unwanted fat loss, or nerve injury. The goal is controlled remodeling—not maximum heat.
